The Jesús FrancoGet Downwas one of Netflix's most divisive shows from the get-go, with critics alternately describing Baz Luhrmann's hip-hop drama as a "masterpiece" and a "mess."

It was also rumored to be one of the streaming network's most expensive projects to date, with a budget reportedly in the ballpark of $120 million for its first and only season. The series also faced a string of production woes, from delays to rewrites to budgetary concerns, not to mention the exit of showrunner Shawn Ryan.

In short, it's probably no surprise that Netflix opted to cancel the show after Season 1 -- especially since Luhrmann is focused on his upcoming film projects -- although it does put the series into an exclusive and pretty depressing club, being one of the only shows Netflix has ever axed, and so far, the only series that has had its plug pulled after one season.

Even the critically-derided Marco Polo got to go out with two seasons under its belt. (Meanwhile, Flaked-- Flaked, for pete's sake! -- was renewed for Season 2, and I bet you can't tell me what that show is about without Googling it.)

So which other shows has Netflix canceled? Aside from Marco Polo and The Get Down, all of Netflix's previously-ended series have been given the dignity of at least three seasons and out, including Hemlock Grove, Lilyhammerand Bloodline, which will conclude after its upcoming third season. The streamer has also opted not to continue with two shows it resurrected from other networks, Longmireand The Killing; the former got three extra seasons, the latter got one -- which was always designed to be a farewell.

But love it or hate it, The Get Downwas undeniably ambitious, diverse and intersectional (although sometimes timidly so), portraying perspectives that are still underrepresented on the big or small screen -- so despite the price tag, its loss is already being felt:
